Mission of Bet El
There is a famous poetic question that asks "what is in a name"? From our Holy Torah we see that a name of a person or place is truely significant. For example, God Almighty changed the patriach Abram to Abraham when he became the father of all the nations. So too the talmudic sage Rabbi Meir used to be able to infer a person's character simply from ones name.
That is the reason that our congregation decided to name our synagogue "Bet El", which translates to "The House of God". This carries a very deep meaning for us. God Almighty accepts into his house of prayer all his children without any discrimination. So too, Congregation Bet-El accepts all Jews be it Sephardic, Ashkanazi, Israeli, Bukharian, Afghani, Yeminite, or Persian.
May God Almighty, in his infinite mercy accept all of our prayers, bring peace upon the Holy land of Israel, and speed the rebuilding of the Beit Hamikdash!!!!
