Jacob Nasirov is a prominent Bukharian-Jewish rabbi residing in Jamaica Estates, Queens, New York. His family originated in Bukhara and immigrated to Afghanistan in 1932. He was born in 1944 and at age 5, his family made aliyah to Israel. After serving in the Israel Defense Forces and working for few years, in 1980 he was called to serve as the rabbi of Anshei Shalom, the only Afghan-Jewish synagogue in the United States. Rabbi Nasirov oversees the kashrut of restaurants, councils on Shalom Bayit, and is involved in all aspects of the Community. In 2007, Rabbi Nasirov with the help of a pure and humble man, Avi Dishi, added another Synagogue in which Jews from all walks of life can come and pray. They decided to call the synagogue "Bet-El" or in english "His House", meaning it is the house of God Almighty, where all Jews are equal. He is a member of the Bukharian Rabbinical Council and a member of numerous Rabbinical Organizations.
